Comment on dating:

  • Der Papyrus datiert in die 20. Dynastie. Terminus ante quem ist die Zeit Ramses' V., den der Hymnus von Section B preist. Gardiner, Chester Beatty Library, S. 1. Der Hymnus und das Recto wurden von derselben Hand geschrieben (Gardiner, ebd., S. 5), stammen also wohl aus derselben Zeit. Die Aktennotizen E und F, vielleicht die jüngsten Texte auf dem Papyrus, sind Gardiner zufolge paläographisch vielleicht vom Ende der Ramessidenzeit. Eine noch genauere Datierung der Handschrift (3. Monat der Achet-Jahreszeit, 2. Jahr Ramses' V.?) ließe sich aus der Untersuchung von U. Verhoeven; in: M. Schade-Busch [Hrsg.], Wege öffnen. Festschrift für Rolf Gundlach zum 65. Geburtstag, Wiesbaden 1996 (ÄAT 35), S. 347-363 zum "Sitz im Leben" der Erzählung schließen, wofür sie die Sektionen E und F jedoch Ramses V. zuweist. Zweifelnd zu ihrer Argumentation jetzt J.F.
