- šzp.n=k: Breasted, Surgical Papyrus, 260 nimmt an, daß šzp.〈j〉n=k zu lesen ist (gefolgt von Bardinet, Papyrus medicauꜥ, 503; Sanchez/Meltzer, Edwin Smith Papyrus, 126). Laut Grundriß IV/2, 145 (Anm. 2 zu Sm Fall 14) paßt die Emendierung šzp.jn=k jedoch nicht, weil die Naht sich erst löst, nachdem das Fleisch abgenommen wurde. Mit einem sḏm.n=f übersetzen auch Ebbell, Westendorf, Allen und Brawanski. šzp bedeutet "empfangen, entgegennehmen, ergreifen"; hier ergibt jedoch nur "aufnehmen, abnehmen, ergreifen" einen Sinn. Die Präposition n im Kombination mit šzp steht üblicherweise für den Dativ: "für ihn/sie"; hier scheint "von ihm/ihr" angebracht.
