one knowledgeable and wise among the great ones,
one friendly of utterance, mouth of every inhabitant of Pe,
one dignified, the steward
Antef, born of Satamun,
justified, possessor of dignity.

- wr pnꜥ.w ꜥ ds.tj šnt.t nb.t: The same epithet appears on the stele Louvre C 2, Zl. B.9 in a more condensed writing (ANOC 29.1 = Obsomer, Sésostris Ier, 552-554, Nr. 35).
- wr pnꜥ ꜥ: "one great of averting the arm (?)": in the sense of "averting danger"?
- ds.tj šnṯ.t nb.t: Obsomer ((Sésostris Ier, Bruxelles 1995, 554, n. b) reads nm.tj: "executioner" in place of our ds.tj; nm.tj is, however, an official title. The reading ds.tj, from ds: "to cut", explains the presence of the vessel (ds) in our version of the epithet. The three fingers with a cord in the Louvre C 2 version remind one strongly of the scribal epithet ꜥrq ḏbꜥ.w: "skilled of fingers" (apparently intepreted so in Meeks, ALex 1982, 351, no. 79.3704: "comme épithète de scribe"), the nb.t (as well as the string of signs that we read as šnṯ.t) would be left unexplained, though - and the signs of our text cannot be read as ꜥrq ḏbꜥ.w anyway. We take the fingers (two on Louvre C 167, three on Louvre C 2) as determinatives to ds.tj. The reading šnṯ.t: "strife" for the following sequence is a very plausible suggestion of Obsomer (1995, 554, n. b; for Louvre C 2) - the resulting meaning, "a cutter of every strife", is consistent with its co-text (epithets indicating the intelligence and rhetorical aptitude of the autobiographer).
- ꜣms rʾ: Written as the preposition, without the Ideogrammstrich, but "one friendly of utterance towards the mouth of every inhabitant of Pe" is rather unlikely. Janssen (Traditioneele autobiografie, 1946, 9, Ib3) reads ꜣms rʾ, but leaves untranslated.
