  • Üblicherweise werden mit nb.wt die Inseln der Ägäis angesetzt, vgl. Wb 2, 227.2-4. Nach L. A. Christophe, in: RdÉ 6, 1951, 93 sind hiermit die Bewohner Mesopotamiens gemeint; übernommen von Blumenthal, in: Urkunden … Übersetzung, 174; Klug, Stelen, 115 mit Anm. 895 verweist auf diese Referenz, aber übersetzt den Ausdruck nicht. Lichtheim, Literature, 36 mit 38 Anm. 2 übersetzt „lowlanders“ (ebenso in Strophe 5); sie verweist auf die umfassende Studie von J. Vercoutter, in BIFAO 46, 1947, 125-158 & BIFAO 48, 1949, 107-209 (zu ḥꜣw-nb.wt), wonach nb.wt „appear as remote marshy regions to the north and east“, sowie auf Gardiner, AEO I, 206*-208*, der klar stellte, dass auch die allgemeine Bedeutung „islands“ vorliegen kann. Tobin, in: The Literature of Ancient Egypt, 354 hat hier gänzlich abweichend „the heathen“ (ohne Kommentar: in Z. 10 hat er S. 353 „the islanders“ übersetzt!).
