  • - jw=j m ḫy tp ꜥ jt=j: Osing (Grab des Nefersecheru, 1992, 49 note (j)) compares this image of parental care with the dedicatory inscription of Ramesses II at Abydos: ‘When my father appeared to the populace, when I was just a youth in his embrace (jw=j m sfj jmytw qnj[=f]), he spoke concerning me…’ (KRI II, 327, 15). The biography of the high priest of Amun, Bakenkhons, on the back pillar of his Cairo statue also provides a thematic parallel: ‘I was taught to be a wab priest in the domain of Amun, as a son under the guidance (lit. hand) of his father (m-sꜣ ẖr ḏrt jt=f)’ (KRI III, 296, 2). A fragmentary biographical statement in the Memphite tomb of Pabes may be close in both theme and phraseology to Nefersekheru’s text (reading of the traces is not completely certain): ‘I grew up as a young man [acting under the guidance of my father] ([jr(w) ẖr ꜥ n jt=j])’ (Martin et al., The tombs of three Memphite officials: Ramose, Khay and Pabes, EM 66, 2001, 20 with n. 3).
