- Da mḥi̯ nicht nur "im Wasser sein; schwimmen; geflößt werden" bedeutet, sondern auch "überschwemmt sein", wird manchmal auch in dem Sinne übersetzt, daß der Baum künstlich bewässert wird (Shirun-Grumach, Vernus; Israeli, in: Fs Lichtheim, I, 482). Was genau gemeint ist, ist unklar, denn, wenn das Holz geflößt oder zur Weiterverarbeitung im Wasser gelagert wird, hat es einen (positiven) Nutzen und endet nicht im Feuer. Das letzte Determinativ von mḥi̯ sind die Beinchen, vom Verb mḥi̯: "fliehen".
