mr.t: the determinative Gardiner, Sign-List S28 of mrt suggests reading 'workers, weavers', though this orthography is unparalleled. Another possibility would be to take as a noun *mrt or infinitive *mr{t} "weaving", but the verb mr (which is written with this determinative) really means 'bind' rather than weave, and the closest parallel in DZA involves 'binding flax'. So any solution would involve either emendation of the determinatives, or positing a hitherto unknown meaning of the verb mr. (see R. Enmarch, forthcoming, A World Upturned: The Ancient Egyptian Dialogue of Ipuwer and the Lord of All. To appear in the British Academy Postdoctoral Monograph Series)
