  • qd: I follow Assmann (1978, 28), Seyfried (1995, 71), and Gerhards (Gerhards, Simone 2021. Konzepte von Müdigkeit und Schlaf im alten Ägypten. Studien zur Altägyptischen Kultur, Beihefte 23. Hamburg: Helmut Buske, 2021, 254 [no. B.216]) in rendering qd ‘sleep’, in particular Gerhards (2021, 191 – 192) where she argues that qd is never used verbally and thus refers to a state of sleep in which dreaming occurs (contra Szpakowska, Kasia 2003. Behind closed eyes: dreams and nightmares in ancient Egypt. Swansea: Classical Press of Wales, 2003, 16–17).
