  • - njs: viele Autoren emendieren mit Posener, in: Fs Schott, 108-111 njs: "rufen" zu ns: "Zunge" (so auch Grumach, Simpson, Brunner, Roccati, Vernus; Römheld, Wege der Weisheit, 170). Iversen, in: ZÄS 123, 1996, 42 liest n js: "vor/wegen Alter". Das Krokodil hat zwar nach Meinung der Antiken keine Zunge, es konnte aber Laute von sich geben, so daß njs besser zu dem Schweigen im vorherigen Vers paßt.
    - jz: wird teilweise als "leicht sein, nicht schwer sein" übersetzt (so Lange, Simpson, Bresciani, Iversen, Laisney), teilweise als jz: "alt, altehrwürdig sein" (Griffith, Posener, Grumach, Lichtheim, Brunner, Roccati, Vernus, Römheld). Da Krokodile gefürchtet wurden, ergibt "altehrwürdig" einen besseren Sinn.
