  • jri̯ ḥr: Following Gardiner, in: JEA 4, 1917, p. 34, n. 7: "jr ḥr§ is clearly related to ḏi̯ ḥr$ 'to give a command to'". Schenkel, Memphis, Herakleopolis, Theben, 1965, S. 283, Anm. (a) reads literally, "niemals habe ich ... das Gesicht irgendwelcher Menschen gemacht" and interprets this as Khety never acting according to the looks (or standing) of any person. But the literal reading, too, lends itself to the interpretation of Gardiner: "to do the face of NN" could perhaps mean "to do (what's in) the face of NN" - i.e. to follow his wish or command (by observing his reactions).
