  • bꜣ.t bezeichnet eine Art Busch oder Gebüsch, manchmal auch das Büschel (z.B. Getreide). Die Wb-Übersetzung „Busch, Gebüsch“ (Wb 1, 416.5.9) wird davon getragen, dass es als Versteck von Feinden oder als Aufenthaltsort junger Vögel dienen kann. Auch dass sich Sinuhe in ein solches bꜣ.t „bückt“ oder „hineinduckt“ (ks), könnte zu der Konnotation beigetragen haben. Da es auch in Verbindung mit Schilfrohr vorkommt (DZA 22.768.540 = pAnastasi IV 1b,3), wird hier die Übersetzung „Dickicht“ vorgeschlagen, da die Bedeutung „Busch“ im Zusammenhang mit Schilfrohr weniger passt. Ob dem Wort tatsächlich die Konnotation eines „Dickichts“, also eines sehr engbewachsenen Pflanzenbestandes, innewohnt, ist allerdings unklar; die Tatsache, dass sich sowohl Feinde als auch Sinuhe bei seiner Flucht in einem bꜣ.t verstecken können, wie auch der Umstand, dass Schilf normalerweise recht eng steht, lassen eine solche Konnotation zumindest mitschwingen.
