Das Verb smꜣ kann abgekürzt nur mit dem Messer oder mit Messer und schlagendem Arm geschrieben werden (DZA 29.187.640). Verben des Gift-Entfernens ohne Messerdeterminativ: In Z. 61 und 139 der Metternichstele steht r ḫsf mtw.t (ohne Messerdeterminativ); šdi̯ mtw.t „herausnehmen“ in Z. 8 (šdi̯ ohne Messerdeterminativ). Falls das Messer und das kleine Zeichen darunter (ein t?) zusammengehören, könnte man eventuell noch šꜥd „zerstückeln“ lesen.
