  • wjꜣ: This reading is very dubious. Amenmose may be referring to the expulsion of delinquent servants but the context is not clear. The reading as “servants” is supported by the human determinatives. Since he refers to himself in the previous verses as a servant (ḥm) who has not been outdone, perhaps he is referring to other holders of his office whom he is doing away with through his excellent service? By either ignoring the determinatives, thus reading as “quotas”, or reading as “labour quotas" (bꜣkw-rmṯ), the passage could be translated as: “because of the quotas which I did away with.” Charles Van Siclen (in: Serapis 6, 1980, 189 – 190) offers a very different rendering of this passage, understanding the reference to servants to be an epithet of Ahmose-Nefertari: "the primaeval one on the west of Thebes, the advocate (?) for the lesser name of servants. They come (?) to me in my position of power, my office to which they…"
